It does excel at producing a good surface finish. Its infill method is basic with just a square pattern. Unfortunately, recent versions have some nasty bugs which result in ugly surface artifacts which I have been unable to workaround.Ĭura has a simple GUI on top of a good slicing engine. I have used Slic3r and found for some things like overhangs it performs really well. I still use it for challenging prints but it has some limitations when generating infill. I started slicing with Skeinforge which has a lot of parameters under user control. Show me what I missed so I can use Cura along with S3D.Ĭura's ADVANCED Menu Selections (S3D's would take 10 to 15 full pages to view maybe more.)Ĭura from version 2015.05 is a complete rewrite of the GUI and is missing some features present in earlier versions. I just said it was far too simple to use compared to S3Dįrom what I have seen. Have you ever really looked at Simplify 3D ?Īlso as I said, if I am mistaken, show me some screen shots of all the configuration options on your Cura installation and please tell S3D like I said has thousands of technical adjustments. Use Cura because each piece of software has it's strengths. If there are plugins I don't know about PLEASE tell me how to get them because I would be happy to ALSO Here is a screen shot of Cura's "Advanced" menu selections shown below. I forgot: simplif圓d is really great with custom supports, the original topic of this post Fine. So, it looks you boing 747 doesn't know how to fly. and most important: cura and slic3r are CAN print thin wall, simplif圓d CAN NOT. Cura is the same or a little more powerfull if you use the plugins. It is your opinion, but it would be nice if you enlight us explaining wich features your boing 747 has that this little. well, please somebody tell 1 feature I dont find in slic3r or cura. Tis soft is adverticed to be full of features. Righ now Im requesting a refund and my advise would be: Im not an expert so if you are reading dont take my word as a final conclusion, but I advise you to pay for simplif圓d haveing enough time to test it so you can ask for the refund with no hurries, because I think you will do it. The same models prints ok in cura and slic3r. you end up with hollowed models, or even being unable to print it. If you want to try printing coolers fan, accesories, etc, wich most of them has thin wall. Useing a 0.4 noozle that should not be a problem right? Well, with simplif圓d it is. But it is completly unable to do things like printing a simple wall of 0.4 mm. sliceing algorithms look really nice and I think they are better than slic3r. It has a really friendly interface, very nice animations. overpriced! I was expecting to have at least basic printing capabilities a a little more, but it has been a little challenging to find 1, I repeat: 1, model in thinggiverse than prints correctly on simplif圓d. I have been testing simplif圓d for a little more than a week. The user interface is intuitive and easy to use. The jump from v2 to v3 had so many changes from these topics. The team listen to the users through both their feature ideas and trouble shooting topics. Their community forum is fantastic where you can ask the questions you need, attach a factory file (part and settings file prior to preview) and people will help. The supports have plenty of settings to work with too, angles density, top layer density, number of dense layers, etc. You can set up firmware settings such as build volume, centre, tool of sets, axis movement (steps per mm) Starting, finishing, tool change and more. You can setup scripts that are inserted into the GCode. Individual extruder setup with I depth settings, infil patterns for both the top and bottom solid layers separately set up but you can adjust the angles manually. The printer used 249 Watts while heating the bed, nozzle and doing the bed leveling at the same time.īed leveling with the BLTouch and 9 points is finished before the nozzle has heated up completely, so I don't loose any time for bed leveling anymore.I find the level of freedom over how you print is so flexible.
